7.2 General Requirements. (Reserved) 7.3 Motor Fuel Dispensing Facilities. 7.3.1 Occupancy Classifcation. The occupancy classifcation of a motor fuel dispensing facility that is located inside a build‐ ing or structure shall be a special purpose industrial occupancy as defned in NFPA 101 or as determined in accordance with the adopted building code. 7.3.2 General Construction Requirements. (Reserved) 7.3.3 Means of Egress. In a motor fuel dispensing facility that is located inside a building or structure, the required number, location, and construction of means of egress shall meet all applicable requirements for special purpose industrial occu‐ pancies, as set forth in NFPA 101 or as determined in accord‐ ance with the adopted building code. 7.3.4 Drainage. Where Class I or Class II liquids are dispensed, provisions shall be made to prevent spilled liquids from fowing into the interior of buildings. Such provisions shall be made by grading driveways, raising door sills, or other equally effective means. 7.3.5 Fixed Fire Protection. 7.3.5.1* For an unattended, self-serve, motor fuel dispensing facility, additional fre protection shall be provided where required by the authority having jurisdiction. 7.3.5.2 Where required, an automatic fre suppression system shall be installed in accordance with the appropriate NFPA standard, manufacturer’s instructions, and the listing require‐ ments of the systems. 7.3.6 Fuel Dispensing Areas Inside Buildings. 7.3.6.1 The fuel dispensing area shall be separated from all other portions of the building by walls, partitions, foors, and foor–ceiling assemblies having a fre resistance rating of not less than 2 hours.
7.3.6.8 The foor of the dispensing area shall be liquidtight. Where Class I liquids are dispensed, provisions shall be made to prevent spilled liquids from fowing out of the fuel dispens‐ ing area and into other areas of the building by means of curbs, scuppers, special drainage systems, or other means acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction. 7.3.6.9* Oil drainage systems shall be equipped with approved oil/water traps or separators if they connect to public sewers or discharge into public waterways. 7.4 Repair Garages. 7.4.1 Occupancy Classifcation. The occupancy classifcation of a repair garage shall be a special purpose industrial occu‐ pancy as defned in NFPA 101 or as determined in accordance with the adopted building code. Δ 7.4.2 General Construction Requirements. In major repair garages, where CNG-fueled vehicles, hydrogen-fueled vehicles, LNG-fueled vehicles, or LP-Gas-fueled vehicles are repaired, all applicable requirements of NFPA 2, NFPA 52, or NFPA 58, whichever is applicable, shall be met. 7.4.3 Means of Egress. In a repair garage, the required number, location, and construction of means of egress shall meet all applicable requirements for special purpose industrial occupancies, as set forth in NFPA 101 or as determined in accordance with the adopted building code. 7.4.4 Drainage. In areas of repair garages used for repair or servicing of vehicles, foor assemblies shall be constructed of noncombustible materials or, if combustible materials are used in the assembly, they shall be surfaced with approved, nonab‐ sorbent, noncombustible material, except as indicated in 7.4.4.1.
